Dallas Mavericks assistant coach arrested in connection with an assault case
The Mavericks said they are aware of an event involving a staff member. The employee was put on administrative suspension until the court case is over.
Dallas cops caught the assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks early Sunday morning.
An aggravated attack charge was brought against Darrell Armstrong, who is 56 years old. The DPD says he is not in jail.
At about 3:45 a.m., Dallas Police were called to the 1000 block of Ross Avenue for a call. Police say that Armstrong hit the victim with a gun and threatened to shoot them while they were fighting, according to reports from the scene.
The police said Armstrong knew the person who was hurt. Armstrong might have a lawyer who could speak for him, but it wasn’t clear.
The police department says that Dallas Fire Rescue arrived and treated the victim at the spot.
The Dallas Mavericks said they were aware of an incident involving a staff member and have put that person on administrative leave until the legal processes are over.
Dallas cops said that they are still looking into what happened.
Armstrong played for the Mavericks for two seasons near the end of his 14-year career. He was a backup point guard on the team that made it to the NBA Finals in 2005-06 but lost to Miami. He became a coach for Dallas in 2008–09.
