Musk’s xAI company releases Grok-3, which is a new AI competitor to OpenAI and DeepSeek.
The Artificial Analysis Quality Index says that Grok-3 does better than models from Google, Anthropic, and Meta.
Elon Musk’s AI company has released its newest model, which makes big claims, such as being able to do better than the best models from the US and China.
Musk’s company, xAI, which was formed in March 2023, showed off the newest version of its Grok-3 AI model on Monday night. The model is being released first to X’s Premium+ customers. The company also announced a new subscription level for Grok called “SuperGrok,” which will give users access to the more advanced features of the newest AI model.

During a livestreamed test on X, Musk said that Grok-3 is “significantly more powerful than Grok 2 in a very short amount of time.” Later, he said that the model was still in beta and that users could look forward to improvements “literally every day.” In about a week, a voice interaction tool would be available.
Developers of xAI showed benchmark results that showed Grok-3, which was taught with 10 times more computing power than Grok-2, did better in math, science, and coding than competitors like DeepSeek-V3 and GPt-4o.
According to the Artificial Analysis Quality Index, a well-known independent AI analysis score, Grok-3 does worse than models from Google, Anthropic, and Meta. It also does worse than DeepSeek-R1 and OpenAI’s o3 and o1 models. Grok-3’s Reasoning Beta model, on the other hand, ranks higher in the score than all but o3.

A new product called Deep Search was also revealed by xAI on Monday night. It is meant to be a “next-generation search engine.” xAI’s Deep Search looks at web pages and X posts to find answers. It seems to be an answer to AI-powered search tools like OpenAI and Perplexity.
During the demo stream, Musk said, “Instead of spending 30 minutes or an hour researching on the web or social media, you can just tell it to do that and come back in 10 minutes. In that time, it will have done an hour’s worth of work for you.” “Maybe even better than you could have done it yourself.”
Musk owns X, a social site that used to be Twitter and got a lot of attention when Grok-3 came out. The detailed review was shared by Andrej Karpathy, who used to be the director of AI at Musk’s Tesla. He wrote that the benchmark results “look quite encouraging indeed.” In early tests of the model, some people praised its skills, while others seemed less sure.

Musk called Grok a “maximally truth-seeking AI, even if that truth is sometimes at odds with what is politically correct” in his stream on Monday.
The founder of xAI has long seen Grok as an alternative to other robots, like those from OpenAI and Google, that he thinks are too “woke.” When Grok first came out in November 2023, it was advertised as being able to “answer spicy questions that most other AI systems don’t want to answer.”
Even with this name, many people quickly noticed that Grok had political leanings similar to those of its competitors. It also had limits that sometimes made xAI users angry because they hoped it would fight what Musk calls “the woke mind virus.”
Musk praised Grok-3 for a negative review of tech news site The Information, while praising X. Some believe xAI’s latest model aligns with Musk’s views, as Grok-3’s screenshot suggests The Information and legacy media are “garbage” and provide “polished narratives, not reality.” “Just the facts as they happen, with no middlemen or spin,” Grok-3 said. “Don’t waste your time with The Information or any other old news source; X is the only place you can trust to get real news.”
But when NBC News tested Grok-3 several times on Tuesday, the model did not come up with such an answer. When asked the same question, Grok-3 wrote over and over that The Information is a “well-regarded tech news outlet known for its in-depth reporting and analysis.” He also said that the publication is “not infallible,” pointing out that some of its content is paid for and that it focuses on a narrow niche.

Thanks for sharing. I read many of your blog posts, cool, your blog is very good.
